Buddy Expectations

Buddies are one of the most important volunteers for the Miracle League of the Lakeshore. Each player is paired with an able bodied buddy who assists them on the field during a two inning game.

  • Each buddy is matched up with one player for the entire season. A buddy must be available for 1 game/week lasting 1 ½ hours (there are no practices).Due to above expectation- please list weeks/dates you would be unable to volunteer due to vacation, camps, school etc.

  • The season runs June 7 through the last week in July.

  • Note that if you will need to miss more than 1 week you may be assigned as a substitute buddy/volunteer.

  • Buddies MUST wear their Buddy shirt for every game; it is your uniform. For safety and protection of the field surface, no sandals, flip flops or cleats are allowed on field.

  • For each game, plan to arrive 30 minutes before the game so that you can check in with your coach and find your player. (Players are not allowed on the field without their Buddy.)

  • Buddies can be anyone 14 years of age or older--- a school classmate, a sibling, a relative, parent, someone from the community, high school or college students. Anyone who is physically and mentally able to help our players play baseball---and has the enthusiasm and compassion -- can volunteer!
